Winter Reading

Here are some of the books I read this winter and what I’d recommend to you all:

  • The Adventures of Pinocchio by Carlo Collodi "| I particularly recommend this book for adults and kids alike!

  • Heidi by Johanna Spyri

  • The Time Machine by H.G. Wells

  • Mars Mission I: Surviving the Kessler Effect by Christopher Lee Jones

  • Little Men by Louisa Alcott

  • Women of the Word by Jen Wilkin

  • War of the Worlds by H.G. Wells | You may have heard about War of the Worlds because it was a big Tom Cruise blockbuster movie from 2005. It’s a fun story, based on the book, written back in 1898! On Halloween, 1938, there is a famous radio broadcast that Orson Welles put on of the book, where he formatted his radio drama to sound like breaking news. Many listeners missed his one sentence disclaimer at the beginning of the broadcast and panicked, thinking the story was true. You can listen to the one hour broadcast in full on Spotify or here on youtube. I can imagine I would freak out if I heard this on the radio in 1938 too!
